Career development and personal growth — highlights from OFFSTAGE’s interview with molodoy

FURIA’s CS2 sniper Danil “molodoy” Golubenko gave an interview on the OFFSTAGE YouTube channel. Here’s a quick rundown of the highlights in our article.
Right at the start, Danil talked about interacting with fans. He noted that it’s much easier for him to talk to fans before a match rather than after an exhausting game.
Commenting on his long-standing choice between a career as an esports player and his studies, molodoy shared a story. One person’s advice helped him make up his mind: “If you don’t try, you’ll regret it for the rest of your life.”
According to Golubenko, rewatching a highlight by Alexander “s1mple” Kostylev helped him get into AMKAL ESPORTS. The sniper executed that play during a practice match, which he played with extremely high ping.
molodoy also shared that adapting to the Brazilian club was very difficult. The esports player literally couldn’t keep up with processing information during matches, so he had to rely on intuition and his own understanding of the game.
Golubenko then touched on the topic of personal growth. He believes that a person must learn every day, constantly analyze themselves, and strive to improve.
According to Danil, his attempts to emulate s1mple could have affected him both negatively and positively. The player likes the Ukrainian sniper’s style, but he realizes that victory in Counter-Strike can only be achieved through teamwork.
Among other things, the FURIA sniper explained how he gradually learned to cope with jet lag after long flights by initially adjusting his routine. According to the player, disrupted sleep can lead to serious difficulties focusing on the game.
Later, Danil noted the importance of controlling one’s emotions. Self-confidence remains a key quality for an esports player, but it is necessary to approach one’s actions and decisions with maturity.
According to molodoy, after meeting Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo, he quickly realized that they were very similar. The sniper denies having a distinct mentor, but at the same time does not dismiss the need to learn from mistakes and improve.
Looking back, Golubenko recalled life situations that taught him never to give up. He also mentioned advice from loved ones about never forgetting who you were at the very beginning of your journey.
When discussing young players, Danil made his position clear: young esports athletes must take their career choice seriously from the start, not rely on luck, and see it through to the end despite any difficulties.
Recalling the start of his career, molodoy cited his first practice match against a serious opponent, which turned out to be The MongolZ. According to the sniper, he and the DMS team managed to defeat the Mongolian club back then.
In the final part of the interview, Danil explained that his body often tells him when he needs to take a break from the game and when, on the contrary, he should train more. The esports player’s favorite pastimes, aside from Counter-Strike, include going to the gym, watching movies, and hanging out with friends.
In addition, molodoy recalled defeats against paiN Gaming at the BLAST.tv Austin Major and Natus Vincere at the StarLadder Budapest Major. In the first case, he noted that matches against fellow Russians often turn out to be intense, while the reasons for the second defeat remain a mystery to the sniper to this day.
In closing, Golubenko mentioned that he still keeps in touch with AW, kAlash, and sFade8. According to the player, he has never lost contact with his former teammates and has no intention of losing them in the future.
The most recent major tournament for FURIA was PGL Astana 2026, where the team lost to Team Falcons in the quarterfinals with a 1-2 map score. The team finished the tournament in 5th–8th place and received $80,000 in prize money.
